The ambiance was warm and inviting with live a live singer who allowed audience members to join in. The sevice was quick. The food was delightful and tasty. I had the Patron Real, which had succulent shrimp and steak as tender as butter! Definitely will be back.
I love this place. The service is good and so is the food. The atmosphere and mood are vibrant. I came here with my mom on Valentine's day one year and got serenaded by the mariachi. Tonight I had the pollo al la tampiquena.
The food is amazing! If you're looking to party and have a fun dinner this is your place! If you're looking to have meaningful conversation, this place may be too loud. Our server was attentive and the staff were fully invested in creating a special environment. Only downfall is that it's too loud to truly converse. Definitely check this place out if you're looking to party more than you talk! We visited on a Friday night!
Tequila CJ Cantina Grill is a vibrant and lively Mexican restaurant located in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood. As a fan of Mexican cuisine, I recently dined at this establishment and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. First of all, the atmosphere is fantastic. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with traditional Mexican artwork, and vibrant lighting that sets the mood for a festive and fun dining experience. The lively music playing in the background adds to the overall ambiance, transporting diners to Mexico without leaving Chicago. The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes that are bursting with flavor. From classic tacos and enchiladas to sizzling fajitas and flavorful mole dishes, there is something for everyone. I order the Mexcalazo dish and it was a true culinary masterpiece that brings the authentic flavors of Mexico to your plate. This dish is a delicious and innovative twist on traditional Mexican cuisine, featuring succulent Rib eye cuts cooked to perfection that are marinated in tomato sauce with poblano peppers, onions, topped with panela cheese and served with rice and beans. The meat is roasted to perfection, resulting in juicy, flavorful cuts that are packed with savory goodness. The smokiness infuses the meat, creating a delightful interplay of flavors that is sure to captivate your taste buds. The presentation of the dish is visually stunning, with the beautifully grilled or roasted meat taking center stage, showcasing the skillful preparation and attention to detail. It's a dish that is sure to please the adventurous foodie and those looking for a memorable and authentic Mexican dining experience. With its bold and smoky flavors, expertly cooked meat, and attention to detail, the Mexcalazo is a must-try dish that will transport your taste buds straight to Mexico. The service was exceptional and the staff was attentive, friendly. They made sure that we were comfortable and satisfied with our dining experience, and our glasses were never empty for long. My dining experience was outstanding. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lively, I highly recommend it for an enjoyable and memorable dining experience.
This is a spacious, comfortable neighborhood spot. Really tasty Mexican food with lots of options. I enjoy their brunch options as well as the dinner menu. Their carne asada is always tasty and tender. Love the fajitas, huevos divorciados, and the tacos Nortenos.
Food was great, the passion fruit Margarita was delicious, but the best part my visit was the service. We ordered a round of drinks and a round of shots expecting just that. We were blown away when our shots came out via a bull with sparkling horns and a torero running around the restaurant before coming to our table, followed by our drinks, also decorated with sparklers. A very special and memorable experience. Worth a visit.
Probably closer to 3.5 stars when it comes to food, but the friendly and welcoming staff definitely bumped it up to 4! Tequila CJ is a super spacious Mexican space in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood. We met some friends who live in the neighborhood here to celebrate a birthday and meet their new baby. Because it is so spacious it ended up being the perfect spot for this. Like I mentioned, the staff working was really wonderful. To drink I sipped on an iced horchata which was so yummy! We started with queso and chips and salsa. The salsa was hot even for me, and I like spice! For my meal I ordered the flautas with chicken. They came out looking SO delicious and piled with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. Unfortunately the actual flavors were underwhelming, with the chicken being pretty dry and bland. The others I were with seemed to really enjoy their meal, so I'm thinking I should have just tried something different. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed the hospitality!
The food is incredible, and honestly, it's hard to find a better place in the neighborhood or in Chicago, for that matter. The quality of food is enough for 2, but you won't share once you taste this spot! I had the huevos machacados (eggs with shredded beef), and for my old recollection, they serve more than they did in the past! Way too much food for under $15? What! I say that as if that's a bad thing right? I mean to be able to share a dish with someone else and the price being perfect, why not? Or you can take the left overs home, either way you will end up with plenty of food. I don't know how a restaurant stays open with such large portions and for the price. If you have eaten huevos machados, you will know that the taste is very fresh and distinct. That's exactly how it is done here also, just like mama in the kitchen for those of Latino heritage. The chilaquiles also are amazing. But be warned, the green sauce will open up your pores! But the red sauce should be enough to satisfy you also.
The vibes are really nice here! We came to celebrate birthdays and they gave us free shots and sombreros. The food was overall delicious too. Highly recommend their Skirt Steak platters.
